The display frame is called a Riker specimen mount. It is designed to hold a mounted adult cecropia.
A mounted cecropia is one that has been prepared to be placed in the display frame. For more information on mounting,
click on the Mounting Kit on the products page. The display frame is 8-1/2" wide and 6-1/2" tall. It has a glass front and cotton backing. Besides the cecropia, it can be used to hold other items, including other insects. I suggest crushing moth balls and placing them behind the cotton backing of the display frame. This keeps the moth (a little, brown, ugly thing) the mothball was made to thwart from getting into the body of the mounted insect and eating it. It has happened to me a lot!! I also seal the back of my frames with candle wax. Seems to help. So, if you buy just the frame, or use the frame for some other insect besides the cecropia, keep the tips in mind. If you have tips for me, please email. The display
frame does not include mothballs or candle wax.
