A collage is made of cecropia wings. No cecropias were killed to
make the collage. Every year, in the spring, thousands of my cecropias emerge from their cocoons and fly away. Many are attacked by birds, who pluck off the cecropia's wings, so that its body can be eaten, or to make it easier to fly away with the body. I find and collect the wings and make collages. Collages should be kept out of direct sunlight. Over a period of years, the wings which make up a collage, like the wings of a framed cecropia, will fade. |
